BM Series Cycloidal Pump

The BM Series Cycloidal Pump is a flow pump, not a metering pump. Theoretical displacement runs 0.8 to 4.5 cc per revolution across the BMA frames and 1.16 to 2.5 cc per revolution across BMB.
How it works
A simple cycloidal rotor set gives stable delivery and good self-absorption, and holds its characteristics at speed. That suits a circulating oil line (a bath, a spray, a return-fed slideway) rather than a metered circuit.
Delivered flow depends on drive speed, and is quoted at 1500 and 1800 r/min. Maximum pressure is 5.0 kgf/cm² on every model in both series.

Installation notes
The BM feeds a circulating line, not a metering distributor, so plumbing it in is a matter of matching port thread, PT1/8, PT1/4 or PT3/8 by frame, to the suction and discharge runs and fitting a strainer ahead of the inlet. Add a pressure gauge with relief valve on the discharge side, since there is no downstream distributor to protect the line if it deadheads.
Rated speed falls as displacement rises across the range, from 3000 r/min on the smallest BMA-10A down to 1800 r/min on the BMA-13A and 2000 r/min on every BMB frame, so check the speed limit for the frame ordered against the drive before it is coupled up.
Before you order
- 5.0 kgf/cm² maximum. A BM cannot reach the action guarantee pressure of any metering distributor: it is not a substitute for a TZ or HL.
- Max rotary speed falls as displacement rises. Check the speed limit for the frame you order against your drive.

Can the BM pump feed a metering distributor?
No. It delivers continuous, low-pulsation flow rather than a per-cycle dose, and its 5.0 kgf/cm² ceiling is below what any distributor in the range needs to guarantee action. For a metered circuit specify a TZ or HL pump instead.
What port sizes does the BM use?
PT1/8, PT1/4 or PT3/8, depending on the frame. See the model table above for which size each BMA or BMB model carries.
What should sit between the BM and the line?
A suction strainer ahead of the inlet, and a pressure gauge with relief valve on the discharge side, since a circulating line has no distributor downstream to regulate it.
