Oil circuits

What a centralised oil circuit is

A centralised oil lubrication circuit is four parts in one order: a pump that draws from a reservoir and pressurises a main line, a distributor that decides how much oil each point receives, tube that carries it, and a fitting that delivers it. Everything in this catalogue is one of those four. The three circuit types below differ only in how the distributor meters.

01Volumetric (inspecting) systemTZ or HL pump + RH-2 / RH-3 distributorsThe pump charges each distributor piston chamber; a spring injects the metered dose to the point when main-line pressure is taken off. A signal pin on each outlet confirms the cycle by eye.
Dose · 0.03 – 0.4 ml per outlet, per cyclePressure · 8 – 15 kgf/cm²
02Pressure volumetric systemTZ or HL pump with pressure take-off + 34 / 35 type distributorsPump pressure itself drives the distributor piston, so the dose arrives at the point at line pressure rather than at spring pressure. Needed where the point resists flow.
Dose · 0.03 – 0.6 ml per outlet, per cyclePressure · 8 – 15 kgf/cm² (oil) · 30 – 40 kgf/cm² (grease)
03Resist-type (proportional) systemNKHY-8, TZ or HL pump + VK / VM, TCJ / TCZ or TK distributorsNo moving parts in the distributor. Each outlet carries a calibrated restriction, so oil splits between points in a fixed ratio for as long as the pump runs. Cheapest per point.
Dose · Proportional, set by restriction sizePressure · 1.5 – 20 kgf/cm²
Reading the circuit

Reading the circuit

The pump sits at the reservoir and feeds one main line. Distributors tap that line in groups; each outlet then runs to exactly one point. Nothing branches after a distributor outlet: one outlet, one point, always.

Size the circuit from the points backwards: total the dose each point needs per cycle, add the distributors that deliver those doses, then pick a pump whose discharge covers the total at the distributor's action guarantee pressure.

Grease circuits

Three pressure classes

A grease circuit is classified by the output pressure of its drive source, and that one number decides everything downstream: which pump, which grease grade, which distributor family, which hose. High, middle and low. Every product in this catalogue belongs to one of the three, and mixing across them is the most common specification error we see.

01High pressure progressive systemZJ series piston pump + SD or U-shaped progressive distributorsA piston pump raises grease to as much as 30 MPa and feeds a master progressive distributor, which feeds secondary distributors, which feed the points in sequence. Full pump pressure reaches every point; none of it is divided. A blocked point raises system pressure until grease leaves the safety valve, so the circuit monitors itself.
Dose · NLGI 1# and 2#, also 0# / 00# / 000#Pressure · 16 – 32 MPa · ZJ set to 30 MPa
02Middle pressure systemPJ pump or NKGH manual pump with take-off + 35 type pressure volumetric distributorsThe pump pressure drives the piston in each volumetric distributor, delivering the stored, metered dose to the point. The pump then stops and its pressure take-off valve relieves the line; the distributor re-meters and re-stores, ready for the next cycle.
Dose · NLGI 000# to 0#Pressure · 10 – 16 MPa
03Low pressure systemAP type motor-driven pump + AD, RH-3 or 35 type distributorsThe same volumetric metering at chassis pressure. Two forms: inspecting volumetric, where a spring compressed during charging injects the dose at spring pressure; and pressure volumetric, where pump pressure itself makes the delivery.
Dose · NLGI 000# to 0#Pressure · Below 10 MPa · AP set to 3.8 MPa

Progressive

Points are fed one after another from a single pressure source. Full pump pressure reaches every point in turn (nothing is divided), so a progressive circuit will push grease into a bearing that a volumetric circuit cannot.

One blocked point stops the whole assembly and raises pressure until the safety valve opens. That is a feature: the circuit reports its own failure.

Volumetric

Each outlet meters a stated dose per cycle, set at the distributor. Points work independently, so one blocked branch starves one point and leaves the rest running.

Needs a pump with a pressure take-off mechanism: the distributor re-meters only when the main line is relieved. Choose volumetric when doses differ point to point.

Why Choose Our Lubrication Systems?

MeteringPublished Dose, Not a PromiseEvery distributor family's discharge is a number on its spec table, not a claim: 0.03–0.16 ml/cycle on the 34-type, 0.1–0.6 ml on the 35-type, down to 0.03 ml on the RH3, whose signal pin also gives a visual, at-a-glance confirmation that a specific outlet actually fired.
MonitoringLevel Switch Standard on Every Motor-Driven PumpThe TZ, HL and GM pumps all ship with a reservoir level switch as standard, with an optional pressure switch on the TZ. Wired into the alarm chain, a starved reservoir stops the machine before it starves a bearing, not after.
BackingOne-Year Warranty, Stock Held in ChennaiOne year against manufacturing defect from date of invoice, on every pump, distributor and fitting we sell. Stock sits on the shelf at Mannurpet, so a confirmed order ships without waiting on an import lead time.

Centralised Lubrication System Design Guide

Four steps take you from point count to an ordered pump and distributor: count the points, size the dose, pick the metering unit for your pressure class, then match the pump to it.

01Identify Lubrication PointsCount every point on the actual machine, not the drawing: points hide behind way covers. A CNC centre commonly runs spindle bearings, way guides, ballscrew nuts and a tool changer; our worked example sizes a real 17-point machine end to end.
02Calculate Lubricant VolumesMultiply point count by dose by cycle frequency. Dose per cycle runs 0.03–0.16 ml on the 34-type, 0.1–0.6 ml on the 35-type, and 0.08–2.4 ml across the SD1/SD2/SD3 progressive wafers, so the total sets your pump's refill interval.
03Select Metering UnitsMatch point count and pressure class to the family: 34-type for 2–5 oil points at 8–12 kgf/cm², 35-type for 2–6 oil or grease points at 12–15 kgf/cm² (30–40 kgf/cm² on grease), or the SD-series for 1–20 grease points up to 25 MPa.
04Choose Pump & SystemSize the pump to the distributor's pressure window: the TZ and HL run 15 kgf/cm² rated, 25 kgf/cm² max, for oil circuits; the GM is built to a 35 kgf/cm² rated output specifically to sit inside the 35-type's 30–40 kgf/cm² grease action-pressure window.

Key Design Principles

Match Pressure to the Distributor's Window

Each family publishes its own action-guarantee pressure: 8–12 kgf/cm² on the 34-type, 12–15 kgf/cm² on the 35-type and RH3, 1.4–25 MPa on the SD-series. A pump that can't clear that number won't fire the metering elements at all.

Match Viscosity and Grade to the Hardware

Oil distributors accept 20–500 cst; the TCJ/TCZ resist-type family is narrower at 20–50 cst. Grease runs NLGI 000#/00# through a metering chamber, and up to NLGI 2# only where a progressive pump pushes it at full pressure instead.

Design for the Failure Mode You Can Live With

A volumetric point starves silently behind a healthy pressure gauge, unless it's an RH3 with a signal pin. A progressive block stalls the whole distributor and can trip a PLC alarm within minutes. Pick the one whose failure you'll actually catch in time.

System Troubleshooting Guide

Pressure Never Reaches Action Pressure

Potential Causes

  • Low reservoir, and check why the level switch didn't alarm
  • Suction-side air leak, so the pump churns froth instead of moving lubricant
  • Burst or disconnected main line downstream of the pump
  • Worn pump no longer making rated pressure

One Point Dry, Others Fine

Potential Causes

  • The volumetric architecture's blind spot: each outlet meters independently, so a starved point can hide behind a healthy pressure gauge
  • Pinched, kinked or swollen feed tube to that point
  • Metering valve jammed by contamination: grit from a dirty top-up or an open reservoir lid is the most common cause
  • On an RH3, a signal pin that doesn't move on a commanded cycle points straight at the fault

Progressive Block Stalled or Cycle Alarm

Potential Causes

  • One blocked outlet: the pistons fire in strict sequence, so a single jam stalls the whole distributor
  • Supply pressure below the SD-series' 1.4 MPa starting threshold, which can mimic a blocked point
  • Crack outlet fittings one at a time with the pump running; cycling resumes the moment the blocked line opens
