SD2 Type Progressive Grease Distributor

The SD Series Block-Type Progressive Grease Distributor is the modular progressive grease distributor in the range, available in three series (SD1, SD2, SD3) to suit different flow and pressure requirements. Optional mechanical indicator pins and electric micro-switch feedback allow integration with PLC-based control systems.

How it works

Pressured grease from the pump enters the inlet and reaches the right side of piston I, which shifts left and strokes grease out of outlet 1. The grease then reaches piston II, which shifts and discharges outlet 2, then piston III and outlet 3; the pressure then returns to the left side of piston I and outlets 4, 5 and 6 discharge in turn. The cycle repeats for as long as grease is supplied.

Because each piston can only move after its neighbour has completed its stroke, the assembly cannot skip a point. Stop the supply and every piston stops where it is; restore it and the sequence resumes from the same point.

An assembly is a start block and an end block plus three to ten middle wafers, held together with tie rods. Middle wafers are single outlet (S) or double outlet (T), and every block has a built-in check valve.

Piston I strokes right to left, outlet 1 discharges
Piston II strokes right to left, outlet 2 discharges
Piston III strokes right to left, outlet 3 discharges
Return stroke: piston I strokes left to right, outlet 4 discharges
Return stroke: piston II strokes left to right, outlet 5 discharges
Return stroke: piston III strokes left to right, outlet 6 discharges

A is the overall assembly length and B the distance between the outer fixing-hole centres, both shown on the drawings below. Both are theoretical values for reference only. Cumulative assembly deviation applies. Measure the built assembly before drilling a mounting plate.

Dimensions

SD1: configuration, installation and main components. The Chinese callout under the view carrying A marks the mounting datum surface.
SD2: configuration, installation and main components. The Chinese callout under the view carrying A marks the mounting datum surface.
SD3: configuration, installation and main components. Its callouts are Chinese only: far left is the oil inlet port, and the three across the top mark the first, working and last blocks.

Before you order

  • Never plug an outlet on a double-outlet block. It will stop the distributor working normally and damage it.
  • One blocked point stops the whole assembly and raises pressure until the pump's safety valve opens. Fit the safety valve and watch it.

Warranty

One year against manufacturing defect from date of invoice.

How it pairs

The SD2 Type Progressive Grease Distributor is commonly specified alongside the ZJ Series High Pressure Piston Grease Pump, the ZD Type Medium Pressure Grease Pump, and the PJ Series Motor-Driven Grease Pump. That is the same recommendation carried on its own datasheet, not a generic same-category suggestion.
